| "Napule Nà"
This is the 4th album by Gaetano D'Angelo, and can be defined
his "maturity album".
Songs are in quite different moods, from the happy, yet nostalgic
tarantella "Napule Nà",
a new classic in Neapolitan song , to the intimate "Sienteme
(Listen to me)" interpreted in two voices, to the passionate
"Turmiente (Torments) " and "Com'eri bella
tu (How beautiful you were)", to the "teasing songs"
like " 'Na femmena strana (A strange woman)" and
"Se ti amava (If he loved you)", to songs that face
social themes, like the anti-war "'Na guerra 'e niente
(A war for nothing)", the social landscape of "Juorne
(Day)" and "Notte (Night)", the happy nostalgia
of "I vecchi autori (The old authors)".
Gaetano is tradition of Neapolitan music, expressed with
the end of the century language, that nostalgic mood that
can be found in all Neapolitan classic songs which blends
with happiness, irony and musicality, typical of the Neapolitan
feelings.
Free from the shadow of his more famous same name cousin
Nino, Gaetano D'Angelo is a telented author, many of his songs
having been interpreted and brought to success by other big
names in contemporary popular Neapolitan music, such as Mauro
Nardi and Pino Mauro, and by a great number of young singers
who have often re-interpreted his best songs in their musicassettes.
It is certainly difficult today to hit the crowded market
of recorded music, music is everywhere around us and often
it slides over us without leaving traces: but if you listen
to the songs written and sung by Gaetano, you'll feel them
inside, touching your deepest sensations.
In a moment of popularity of the "world music"
and ethnic music, this is our own "ethnic music"
, the roots of our mediterranean musicality that express themselves
through a spontaneous talent and self-taught man as Gaetano
D'Angelo, the contemporary interpreter of the Neapolitan heritage.
The album "Napule Nà" is quite peculiar
also in its sleeve which shows an unusual and fascinating
image created by the famous neapolitan photographer Guido
Giannini, is available on Compact Disc and Musicassette, released
on the brave independent label Bumshiva Music by Luigi Fedele,
and available only directly by the same record Company.
