ROCCO GRANATA's worldwide popularity
is certainly bound to the big planetary success of "Marina",
a song that in 1960 reached the top positions in all countries',
including the States, sales charts.
It was a sudden and surprising success: and at the start the
A Side of his first single was planned to be another song, that
"Manuela" which was to become a hit as well... but
not as much as the song that was composed and recorded just
for "filling" the B Side, exactly "Marina".
It was a world smash hit !
This hit opened for Rocco Granata the doors of the most important
theatres and auditoriums, starting from mythical "Carnegie
Hall": CONNIE FRANCIS was the opening act of the concert,
then Rocco performed some of the Italian medleys of evergreen
hits that appear in the first CD of this double album.
"ITALIAN CLASSICS" is in fact a review of the best
performances of Rocco Granata in his whole carreer, some completely
new and never previously released, other re-mastered from
the original live performances. An "history" album.
The second CD "LA FOTOGRAFIA" is on the contrary
the brand new artistic production by ROCCO GRANATA, a sort
of "singer-songwriter" album, always in that popular
vein of Italian "chansonnier" which makes Rocco
so close to the heart of the Italians all over the world,
and to all who in the world, love and appreciate Italian melody.
A double album that collects the entire carreer of an Artist
among the most beloved for his sympathy and his talent, in
which, as a "bonus track", a brand new, Gypsy Kings'
style, disco-dance version of the evergreen "Marina"
has also been included.
