In the great reggae tradition,
from BOB MARLEY to PETER TOSH, to EDDY GRANT, to UB 40, here
comes finally a voice from Africa ìfor Africaî.
RUDI KOFI FRANKI was born in Ghana, West Africa, and has got
in himself the pure roots of the most truly African sounds,
rhythms, and culture: his musical , but also spiritual and
cultural maturity developed in Jamaica, in close contact with
the MARLEY Family.
This is where Rudi discovered reggae, not only in its rhythmic
and musical aspects, but also in its philosophical, religious
and social interpretations.
It's also in Jamaica where the two early Compact Discs by
RUDI KOFI FRANKI, respectively entitled "Kokrokoo"
and "Kelewele For Afrekan Unity", were composed
and recorded, in 1994 and in 1996.
The two albums are a great success in his home country, where
Rudi is today a first rate star, but they have had only an
adventurous diffusion in other countries, among which Italy,
even if Rudi has often been on tour and concerts in several
countries, with his own group "The Lions".
The Ghanaian press has always been talking about the "Rudi
Kofi Franki phenomenon", not only for his huge musical
success, but especially for the depth and intensity of his
lyrics, which face the most crucial problems of the developing
countries, of children, of oppressed women, of social and
economic exploitation.
This new CD Reggae for Afrika collects the best of the two
previous albums, thirteen songs for over 70 minutes of music,
bound to a more international diffusion: and this operation
starts from Italy , the country where in this moment the most
different races and cultures seem to be meeting, and hopefully
melting.
African musicality has found its best possibility of expression
in the reggae rhythm, which is now a universal musical language.
Let's all then allow ourselves to be cooly carried away by
the music and rhythm of RUDI KOFI FRANKI, without forgetting
to listen to the words as well, which can make us richly endowed
with feelings, as well as help us to better understand the
global world in which we are living.

Nella grande tradizione del reggae,
da BOB MARLEY a PETER TOSH, a EDDY GRANT, agli UB 40, finalmente
una voce dall,Africa "per l,Africa.
RUDI KOFI FRANKI è nato nel Ghana, Africa Equatoriale,
ed ha quindi in sé le radici dei suoni, dei ritmi,
della cultura più vera africana; la sua maturazione
musicale, ma anche spirituale e culturale è però
avvenuta in Jamaica, a stretto contatto con la famiglia MARLEY.
E, qui che Rudi ha scoperto il reggae, non soltanto nel suo
apetto ritmico e musicale, ma anche nei suoi coinvolgimenti
filosofici, religiosi e sociali.
In Jamaica sono stati composti e prodotti i primi due Compact
Disc di RUDI KOFI FRANKI, nel 1994 e nel 1996, intitolati
rispettivamente "Kokrokoo e "Kelewele For Afrekan Unity .
I due album sono stati un successo nel suo Paese natale, dove
Rudi è oggi una star di prima grandezza, ma hanno avuto
una diffusione solo "aavventurosa negli altri Paesi, tra cui
l,Italia, dove pure Rudi si è esibito in tournées
e concerti con il suo gruppo "The Lions.
La stampa del Ghana si è occupata diffusamente del
"fenomeno Rudi Kofi Franki, non solo per il grande successo
musicale, ma per la profondità dei testi, che affrontano
le problematiche più attuali del mondo in via di sviluppo,
dei bambini, delle donne, dello sfruttamento sociale ed economico.
Questo nuovo CD "Reggae for Afrika raccoglie "il meglio dei
due precedenti album, tredici brani per un totale di oltre
70 minuti di musica, destinati ad una diffusione più
internazionale: e questa operazione nasce proprio dall,Italia,
il Paese che sta diventando sempre più, nel bene e
nel male, la "cerniera tra il mondo più sviluppato
e quello in cerca di sviluppo.
La musicalità Africana ha trovato la sua migliore possibilità
di espressione nei ritmi reggae, che è ormai diventato
un linguaggio musicale universale.
Lasciamoci dunque conquistare dalla musica e dal ritmo delle
canzoni di RUDI KOFI FRANKI, senza dimenticare di prestare
attenzione anche ai contenuti, che possono arricchirci ed
aiutarci a meglio comprendere il mondo globale in cui viviamo.
