| "La vida es una comica"
Born in Caracas, Carlos Ugueto has been living in Italy
for 20 years now, and has always been fully involved in
Latin-American music, first as a disc-jockey in radios and
discotheques and as a journalist, later also as a musician
and performer.
As a radio DJ, first in state-owned RAI, then in private
radios as "Radio Popolare", "Radio Tropic
FM", and others, he is the most energetic and informed
programmer of Latin Music.
In the age of "techno-dance" in the early nineties,
Carlos was the first DJ to set the trend towards latin dances
and rhythms, opening and animating Latin Discos, introducing
in Italy the new taste towards Central and South American
Music, that's now quickly exploding all over the world.
He was the one to introduce to Italian audiences Artists
like JOE ARROYO, OSCAR D'LEON, TITO PUENTE, LAS CHICAS DEL
CAN, ALFREDO DE LA FE', etc., by organizing and staging
their live concerts in our country.
As a singer, composer and musician, Carlos Ugueto has created
around himself groups like GRUPO GEMALA, LA PLAYA and others,
and finally, after some participations with these groups
to Compilation Albums in Italy and abroad, he has completed
his first "solo" album, "La vida es una comica",
composed and arranged with the important collaboration of
CANDELO CABEZAS , and co-produced with LUIGI FEDELE of Bumshiva
Music, the brave independent label that releases this album.
Together with Candelo and other talented musicians, Carlos
sings and plays in the album senf-penned songs like "Chevere",
"Sabroso", "Salsa con reggae", "Descarga",
plus his own salsa-versions of the famous Italian hits "Respirando"
by Lucio Battisti, and "L'anno che verrà"
by Lucio Dalla.
The solo album is released simultaneously, on the same
label, with the compilation "A' Puess ! Sin Frenos",
also prepared by Carlos, including a superb collection of
top Latin-American hits by OSCAR S'LEON, HILDEMARO, KANDANGA,
RUMBA CUM LAUDE and others, and which also includes, as
"bonus tracks", two previously unreleased recordings
by same Carlos Ugueto with the group "La Playa".
Carlos' fans will be happy to learn that two tracks featuring
Carlos Ugueto with his previous group "GRUPO GE.MA.LA.
(para gossar, bailar y divertirse, romperse la cabeza, ha
ha...)" , titled LLEGO TARZAN and WHEN I SEE YOU are
still available in a vinyl compilation "MOBY DICK",
released by Bumshiva Music in 1987.
